Moving day is less than 2 weeks away. We’re in that in-between stage right now where it’s too early to pack most stuff because we’ll use it before we move, but it’s close enough to moving day to think, “How are we going to get this all done on time?!?”
I packed a few boxes in the garage, and immediately had to open one to get out something I needed to use.
Anyway, we’re extremely grateful that God has provided a place for us in Medina. Looking forward to moving ahead with ikon, now that we’ll be living in town.

We’re in the process of trying to sell our house in Columbus, which is currently the largest hurdle to moving forward with the church plant in Medina, OH. It was encouraging, then, to read that others have dealt with this difficulty, as well. In his biography of Jonathan Edwards, George Marsden briefly mentions the difficulty Edwards experienced in selling his home in Northampton, while beginning his ministry in Stockbridge. We’ve begun ministry in Medina, but are still trying to sell in Columbus. Like Edwards, we’ll probably move before we’ve sold. At least we’re not alone…

A challenging thought from Graeme Goldsworthy’s book According to Plan (commenting on Deut. 6.6-9, 20-25),
“The only explanation for the laws and regulations that can be given to a curious child is the historical act of redemption by which they were freed from slavery in Egypt… They are called to live as those who have been saved by grace.” (p. 153)
Do you parent with this in mind? I admit that I tend to default to “Because I said so,” instead of “Because God has called us to be his people.” I’ll have to meditate on this one, and make some changes…
